DANIELS ELECTRONICS AND ICOM AMERICA ANNOUNCE SUCCESSFUL P25 TRUNKED INTEROPERABILITY TEST

Victoria, B.C. Canada – April 28, 2009 – Daniels Electronics Ltd., a leading supplier of high reliability LMR radio equipment, and Icom America, an industry leader of state-of-the-art digital communications equipment for land, marine, ham (amateur) and avionics use, today jointly announced the successful completion of interoperability testing between their P25 encrypted trunked products.

Daniels recently announced its new P25 trunked radio system at the IWCE tradeshow in Las Vegas. Building on its highly successful family of MT-4E digital radios, the Standalone trunked system provides a trunked solution for public safety applications that require a single site system that is compact, easy to transport, offers rapid installation and low current consumption. Fully compliant to the P25 suite of standards the Daniels trunked radio system is designed to interoperate with all P25 trunked handhelds and mobiles.

"We are very pleased with the results of these tests", says Robert Small, President and Chief Operating Officer of Daniels Electronics. "They validate our core design and prove that our radio system is compliant to the standards and provides interoperability with other P25 compliant equipment."

The Icom IC-F9011B/S/T series portables and the IC-F9511S/T series mobiles have built-in analog conventional, P25 conventional and P25 trunking capability, making them forward and backward compatible. The mixed-mode operation allows operation on a mixed system with both analog and digital signals, and the radios feature multiple channel spacing options: 15kHz/30kHz (analog) and 12.5kHz (P25 digital). This means most agencies can introduce P25 equipment without abandoning a legacy analog system. To ensure interoperability with other brands of P25 equipment, both the portables and mobiles conform to the standard specifications for TIA/EIA TSB-102, CABC-A, Project 25 Interoperability Testing for Voice Operation in Trunked Systems.

Speaking for Icom America, Chris Lougee, Vice President of Icom America, said "Our recently introduced F9000 series portables and mobiles have been well received in the market. We are pleased that Icom can validate their interoperability with a number of manufacturers including Daniels. Daniels has a reputation for building solid product that is easy to work with and these tests confirm that."
